Description

A reputable and large foreign corporate bank HK branch with global presence in the Asia region is looking for a new AVP for their Regulatory Compliance, Global Markets division. This position acts as a dedicated partner to the financial markets business, ensuring robust regulatory adherence across sophisticated trading products and desk activities.

Job Duties:

1. Serve as the primary compliance point-of-contact for the financial markets desk, evaluating regulatory risks for complex instruments across fixed income, currencies, commodities, and derivatives.
2. Interpret local regulatory shifts and coordinate with front-to-back business units to execute necessary operational updates.
3. Draft, refine, and enforce internal compliance policies to safeguard the branch against regulatory gaps.
4. Lead investigations into compliance anomalies or rule breaches, and manage the formal reporting process to regulatory bodies.
5. Supervise daily monitoring activities, including desk communication surveillance and control room wall-crossing protocols.
6. Coordinate the collection of internal data to ensure prompt, accurate responses to regulatory audits and inquiries.
7. Design and deliver targeted regulatory workshops and training sessions for trading and support staff.
8. Collaborate closely with regional and global headquarters to align local compliance practices with broader group standards.
9. Conduct regular compliance desk reviews and thematic assessments to proactively identify potential operational risks.

Job Requirements:

1. University degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
2. 6-8 years of solid compliance advisory or regulatory compliance experience within the banking industry
3. Strong knowledge of treasury operations, financial services, and diverse banking products (global markets products: FX, rates)
4. Analytical mindset with strong presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
5. High proficiency in both written and spoken English and Cantonese.
