Wells Fargo is seeking a Finance Senior Executive for Wealth and Investment Management (WIM)

Finance brings together enterprise functions that drive Wells Fargo's financial management, including accounting and control, financial planning & analysis, line of business finance, asset-liability management, treasury, tax management, and the company's investment portfolios. The team drives financial performance by understanding the value chain of our products and services and working to prioritize and execute areas of improvement throughout the company.

About the WIM CFO Position

As one of five Line of Business Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), the Wealth & Investment Management ('WIM') CFO will report to the CFO of Wells Fargo and lead a team that oversees the creation of finance strategy and business support for WIM. Wells Fargo Wealth and Investment Management is a leading full service, US wealth management business with over $2 trillion in client assets, 3 million clients and 12,500 financial advisors. WIM is one of the five core lines of Business at Wells Fargo and represents 20% of firm-wide revenue. The WIM Finance leadership team includes:
  • CFO for the Client Relationship Group which is the distribution arm of WIM. This includes financial advisors in WIM offices, financial advisors in Wells Fargo bank branches, FiNet - our channel for RIAs and independent financial advisors and clearing broker dealers and our digital offerings - WellsTrade and Intuitive Investor.
  • CFO for the Banking Lending & Trust provides and manages these products across all WIM distribution channels. This comprises over $180 billion in deposits and $85 billion in loans.
  • Data and Analytics leader which will provide good data driven decisions which are key to the business and the head of WIM Finance data, analytics and reporting runs the center of excellence for reporting and business analytics across WIM.
  • The Financial Planning & Analysis Leader provides comprehensive FP&A support for WIM. This includes developing and enhancing our financial disciplines and management processes to drive business execution and improved customer and financial outcomes. This role also leads the planning and forecasting process for the annual budget, quarterly and monthly forecasts.
Key responsibilities for this role:
  • Provide strategic financial leadership to the CEO of WIM through an understanding the products and services WIM provides to its clients and customers.
  • Active participant on the Finance and the WIM Operating Committees
  • Working with peers, optimize the finance operating model through both direct and centralized teams; simplify, standardize, and consolidate processes and technology to deliver improved quality in terms of consistency, accuracy, and timing; and create an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure proper preparation of financials for WIM business unit operating reviews and reports; financial support for business cases; support as needed by WF management for investor presentations and earnings releases; and ad-hoc financial analyses.
  • Provide financial advice and guidance for Wells Fargo's strategic plan as well as other long-range line of business plans.
  • Ensure regulatory, data and controls compliance for all processes/programs undertaken by business finance teams.
  • Build relationships and partner productively with WF senior leaders, including the Corporate Controller, Treasurer, and Head of Investor Relations in support of all CFO deliverables.
  • Lead complex multi-year projects, strategies, goals, and business ventures as applicable
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in Finance, including expense efficiency
  • Maintain and improve effective financial controls and risk culture that identifies existing and emerging risk exposures
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet long-term functional and business objectives and strategy
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals, including more experienced managers
  • Serves as Finance and Operations Principal (finop) for our retail broker dealer (Wells Fargo Clearing Corp)
Key deliverables:
  • Annual budget and updated forecasts for the business being supported
  • Financial analysts and insights on business initiatives
  • Assessment and guidance on financial performance
  • Reporting and analysis on key business metrics
Required Qualifications, US:
  • 10+ years of Finance experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of Management experience
Desired Qualifications:
  • Must be licensed with FINRA (series 7, 24)
  • Extensive experience supporting a large complex business in one or a combination of the core business areas
  • Experience in developing financial projections and establishing financial goals.
  • Strong working knowledge of regulatory capital rules and liquidity standards, asset/liability management practices.
  • Strong knowledge of financial products as well as the connections between the balance sheet, non- interest income, the underlying business drivers, and revenue composition.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven ability to coherently present complex financial topics tailored to audiences of varying seniority and functions to create understanding
  • Proven ability to attract, develop, and retain a highly engaged, high performing, and diverse team.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead change, develop cutting edge, innovative solutions, build effective partnerships, and manage cross-functional projects in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills combined with strategic business focus.
  • Due to a city-wide mandate in New York City, all individuals who perform in-person work or interact with the public during business must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or qualify for an approved accommodation to be exempt from being fully vaccinated. Currently, this position falls under the scope of this mandate.
  • Base compensation range: 331,700.00 - 773,900.00 USD Annual
  • May be considered for a discretionary bonus, Restricted Share Rights or other long-term incentive awards
