Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical individual with relevant work experience in a valuation and/or corporate finance role. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and corporate finance, while thriving in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct the valuations of individual portfolio investments (largely comprising of private debt instruments) in addition to the consolidation of investments for fund reporting, ensuring accuracy and alignment with industry standards and GAAP.
- Build and maintain complex financial models for valuation (DCF, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, etc.).
- Build and maintain short- and long-term cash flow forecasting models across multiple entities and business units.
- Supervision of insurance joint-venture operations and associated portfolio management.
- Perform detailed return and sensitivity analyses, incorporating financial concepts for risk and performance assessment with a focus on credit metrics.
- Prepare and present detailed valuation reports, memos, and supporting documentation for internal/external stakeholders, and auditors. Prepare executive reporting packages.
- Participate in treasury-related initiatives such as capital structure planning, billing, intercompany funding, and banking relationship management.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the accounting, investments, and corporate development teams, as well as with external valuation firms and joint-venture partners.
Requirements
Qualifications/Core Competencies:
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate financial information.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; holder of a CPA, CFA or CBV designation.
- Greater than five years of experience in valuation, corporate finance, transaction advisory, or financial consulting.
- Advanced Excel modeling skills, with a strong understanding of valuation methodologies and financial statement analysis. Capable of creating financial models from scratch.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to manage and prioritize tasks independently in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
- Independent and analytical by nature, thriving in roles that require deep focus, critical thinking, and the ability to work autonomously while maintaining accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Dependable and punctual, with the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.
