About the Role:
The Senior Director, People Operations is a strategic and operational leader responsible for building and scaling the systems, processes, and programs that power the full employee lifecycle, reporting into the Vice President, Human Resources. This role has global oversight of HR System Strategy, Process Design, and User Experience, People Metrics & Analytics, HR Process Optimization, and the documentation/coordination of HR Policies, ensuring the function operates with excellence, consistency, and compliance. In addition, this role will encourage, leverage, and champion the responsible use of AI-enabled tools across HR to help reimagine HR, enhance employee experiences, and ensure we are future-ready. The Senior Director partners closely throughout the HR organization, Compliance, Finance, Legal, Information Technology, and other various business leaders to support the organization's long-term growth.
What You'll Do:
Strategic & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Develop and execute the global People Operations strategy aligned to business and regional priorities
- Partner with functional and regional leaders to understand and execute on business needs and market nuances
- Leverage technology to enable end-to-end global HR processes, ensuring they are globally compliant
- In partnership with Information Technology, develop and manage People Operations and HR Technology budgets
Strategic AI Integration
- Be on the forefront of new AI technology, growing a deep understanding of AI capabilities across HR processes, programs, and systems
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying areas where AI can add the most value, strategically reimagining and redefining to integrate new technology
- Leverage AI and automation to increase efficiency across time zones and geographies
- Partner with Information Technology and HR COEs to identify opportunities for AI-enabled process improvements within the HR domain, taking a lead role in creating and executing AI roadmap
HR System Strategy, Process Design, and User Experience
- Oversight of Human Resources Systems team, providing guidance on Workday and HR-related technology design and decisions, ensuring a user-friendly experience
- Partners with Information Technology to shape short- and long-term HR technology roadmap plans, maximizing the capabilities of Workday
- Partners with Information Technology to grow and foster cross-functional ways of working, operating as a Governance Team Member for large-scale initiatives, providing Global Process Owner (GPO) review and approval across small- and large-scale implementations
- Defines the business requirements for global self-service capabilities to design and implement scalable solutions in partnership with Information Technology team, ensuring scalability, data security and compliance of HR systems across all regions
- Adhere to global data governance standards ensuring accurate and region-specific reporting compliance in alignment with SOX, document management, and record retention
People Metrics & Analytics
- With People Analytics team, build and maintain global dashboards and insights for headcount, turnover, engagement, and other metrics
- Review, provide insights, and help to shape Executive-level analyses and presentations
- Develop a strategy, standardization, and automation across reporting, ensuring technology optimization and AI processes are incorporated
- Provide guidance and support, where needed, for ad hoc requests from the business
HR Process Optimization & Policy Oversight
- Lead Global policy development and maintenance, partnering with Legal, regional partners, and various functions to ensure policies are in place for organizational growth, in line with our organizational culture and values
- In partnership with HR COEs, oversee the development and ongoing maintenance of global process maps and governance for onboarding, offboarding, job changes, and talent mobility
- Standardize internal-HR processes, ensuring documentation is in place for team member onboarding and consistent application
- Ensure timely compliance with SOX/internal control related deliverables
Team Leadership
- Lead a multidisciplinary People Operations team of direct and indirect reports, in line with our organizational values and 'To Be List', evolve a sustainable working model that impacts organizational goals
- Create professional development and growth pathways for team members
- Coach team through evolution of organizational needs, including prioritization of HR- and business-driven initiatives
- Mentor regional team members that specialize in local HR Operations work, including them in team meetings, discussions, and globally impacted decisions
Who You Are:
- 12-15+ years of HR Operations experience, including 5+ years leading teams in a senior or director-level role; Other HR and business experience a plus
- Global oversight scaling People Operations in a high-growth, matrixed environment, with experience in large-scale process and systems transformations
- Experience with HR systems and integrations, with direct experience in Workday
- Experience implementing or leveraging automation solutions within HR systems or processes necessary; experience with AI a strong plus
- High level of comfort with learning new technologies, with demonstrated ability in designing and deploying new ways of doing things
- Strong understanding of US employment law and compliance regulations with an understanding of differing norms and regulations across people-systems and processes outside of the US; payroll operational knowledge a plus
- Advanced analytical capabilities; comfortable with dashboards, modeling, and data-driven insights
- Strong executive presence and communication skills
- Skilled in budget planning and vendor management
- Proven track record of driving change, innovation, and process excellence in fast-paced, regulated environments
- Collaborative, influential, and empathetic leader who thrives in cross-functional partnerships
- Continuous learner, passionate about staying ahead of emerging technologies and industry standards
Travel:
Minimal travel, up to 10% travel based on business need/conferences
Where You'll Work
This is a fully remote role. It can be performed effectively from anywhere while staying connected to your Insmed team and community. Occasional travel for team meetings or events will be expected.

Pay Range:
$214,000.00-292,000.00 Annual
