Description
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for guiding individuals, families, and businesses toward achieving their financial goals through effective planning and will work directly with wealth management professionals. This position serves as a trusted advisor, delivering personalized solutions, and driving business growth through client acquisition and retention. This position requires a self-starter with a passion for financial planning and relationship management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Build custom investment portfolios to meet client needs; manager investment portfolios in accordance with investment objectives; communicate portfolio positioning and performance to clients.
Place trades in accordance with policy.
Conduct detailed financial assessments for clients; advise clients on investment strategies which meet their financial plan; adjust investment strategies based on clients' changing needs.
Educate clients on financial market dynamics.
Collaborate with other financial professionals to deliver the best of Hawthorn Bank.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Maintain knowledge of financial markets, strategies and regulations.
Proactively build and manage client relationships through personalized engagement and exceptional service; identify and develop relationships with new potential clients.
Comply with all banking regulations, policies and procedures.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain educational and professional expertise through attendance at job related seminars, conferences, and workshops and involvement in professional, civic, and community groups in leadership positions. Maintain in-depth knowledge of financial products and regulations. Membership in professional financial planning organizations.
Work independently and as part of a team; operate in a highly dynamic and entrepreneurial environment and adapt to changes with a flexible attitude.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Possess a four-year college degree from an accredited university or institution with a major area of study in finance, business, or comparable discipline. Master’s degree in finance, economics or related field preferred.
Possess a minimum of two to seven years of professional work experience in wealth or investment management.
CFA Charterholder or actively pursuing designation.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations to top management and/or public groups. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced statistical theory. Proficiency in investment management and analysis. Attention to detail, time management and organization skills required. Ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ethical standards, and commitment to fiduciary responsibility.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have the ability to operate PC and printer, copy and fax machines and telephone. Must have good working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software programs. Ability to learn new software systems quickly. Advanced PC knowledge. Experience with market data systems such as FactSet or Bloomberg and manager selection tools such as Morningstar Direct. Ability to operate in a highly dynamic and entrepreneurial environment and adapt to changes with flexibility.
KEY CONTACTS--Internal and External
Has frequent contact with business leaders, accounting and legal professionals to promote wealth management and bank products and services.
COMMENTS
Position may require occasional overnight travel to attend various training sessions. Position requires the ability to work before or after normal business hours to attend various meetings and meet with clients.
