About Us
Flagstaff Surgical Associates is a multi-specialty medical group with 32 physicians and advanced practice providers. We proudly serve our community by offering comprehensive care in Urology, General Surgery/Trauma, Ear, Nose & Throat (including Allergy & Audiology) and Gastroenterology.
Position Overview
Our General Surgery Physician Assistants (PAs) play a key role in patient management and surgical support throughout all stages of care.
Primary Responsibilities:
Pre-Operative Care
- Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations.
- Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests (lab studies, imaging, etc.).
- Educate patients and families on surgical procedures, risks, and recovery expectations.
Intra-Operative Assistance
- Assist surgeons during procedures, including tissue retraction, suturing, and hemostasis.
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure appropriate instrumentation.
- Perform minor surgical procedures under supervision, as credentialed.
Post-Operative Management
- Monitor patients during recovery, including vital signs and wound assessment.
- Remove sutures, drains, and staples as appropriate.
- Modify and implement treatment plans based on patient progress and clinical findings.
- Provide discharge education and coordinate follow-up care.
Administrative Duties
- Document patient encounters, operative notes, and treatment plans accurately.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless continuity of care.
- Adhere to hospital policies, surgical protocols, and healthcare regulatory standards.

- Salary: $100,000 – $125,000 per year (commensurate with experience)

Qualifications
- Required: Ability to commute or relocate to Flagstaff, AZ before start date
- Preferred: 1+ year of experience with EMR systems
- License: Active Arizona Physician Assistant license (or eligibility to obtain)
- Special Interest: Experience and/or interest in wound care is strongly preferred
