Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Job Location: McLean,Virginia
Responsibilities
Trace Systems is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support and grow within our payroll department. This individual will assist with the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. They'll work closely with finance and have the opportunity to take on more responsibility over time.
- Support semi-monthly payroll processing for all employees, including salaries, allowances, garnishments, benefits deductions, and taxes.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee time and attendance data.
- Process payroll updates for new hires, terminations, salary changes, and adjustments.
- Calculate and process allowances and premiums such as per diem, housing, hardship/danger pay, and COLA.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour regulations.
- Prepare and provide documentation during audits.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance to identify and implement process improvements.
- Manage payroll deductions for employee benefits, including health insurance and retirement plans.
- Respond to payroll and benefits inquiries from employees with professionalism and accuracy.
- Perform ad hoc analysis of payroll data to support troubleshooting, compliance reviews, and management reporting.
Qualifications
- Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US citizenship is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree in accounting, business administration, human resources or related field; OR minimum of 5 years of related experience without a degree.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, payroll tax compliance, and internal controls.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint and ADP Workforce.
- Experience in a government contracting environment.

Education:
- Bachelors degree in accounting, business administration, human resources or related field; OR minimum of 5 years of related experience without a degree.
