Chaffe McCall, a highly regarded regional law firm, is seeking an experienced insurance defense attorney to join their Houston office.  The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker with a strong legal background and have excellent writing skills.  This is an opportunity for a dedicated attorney to further their career within a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Position Overview:

This position offers the opportunity to work on complex insurance matters, including insurance litigation, risk assessment and analysis, navigating intricate insurance issues, ranging from first-party property claims to significant personal injury cases.  We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in maritime, energy, transportation and general casualty litigation, first and third-party property litigation, insurance coverage matters and a deep understanding of the insurance industry, allowing them to help clients resolve challenging insurance issues.  Experience representing domestic and international insurers and reinsurers in both first-party and third-party matters throughout the United States is highly valued. Trial experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a diverse caseload of insurance defense matters, providing legal counsel and representation to clients.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to develop effective legal strategies.
• Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations as necessary.
• Collaborate with a team of experienced attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to achieve successful outcomes for clients.
• Stay current with legal developments and industry trends insurance defense.

Requirements

Qualifications:

•  Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
•  Active and in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
•  5 – 10 years of experience practicing insurance defense law.
•  Strong legal research and writing skills.
•  Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities.
•  Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
•  In-depth knowledge of insurance coverage and the insurance industry.
•  Experience representing domestic and international insurers and reinsurers, including first-party and third party matters throughout the U.S.
