Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable HR Generalist who will be supporting day-to-day human resources operations, ensuring compliance with employment laws and providing guidance to managers and employees. This role is responsible for administering HR programs, processing payroll, and fostering a positive workplace culture aligned with the company’s values.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll & Tax Compliance
- Process payroll and manage payroll liabilities.
- Submit weekly certified payroll and oversee interim payroll reporting.
- Issue W-2 and 1099 forms.
- Conduct insurance audits and respond to requests as needed.
Employee Lifecycle Management
- Handle onboarding of new hires, including background checks, job-site badge applications, and system setup.
- Facilitate annual performance reviews.
- Maintain employee files and ensure accurate records for all staff.
- Support employee offboarding, benefits terminations, and exit processes.
HR Administration
- Maintain and update the Employee Handbook.
- Ensure proper communication of policies and procedures across departments.
- Issue employee warnings and disciplinary documentation as necessary.
- Oversee general HR correspondence and maintain documentation for all personnel actions.
Benefits & Insurance Administration
- Add employees to benefit programs and manage enrollment/changes.
- Coordinate health insurance renewals.
Safety & Compliance
- Oversee employee safety certifications and training programs.
- Support compliance with federal, state, and industry-specific regulations.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of HR generalist experience, preferably in a construction, industrial, or similar environment.
- Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws, payroll processing, and benefits administration.
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of certified payroll requirements.
- Experience with ROCIP/OCIP and insurance audits.
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
