The Controller is responsible for overseeing the organization's global accounting operations, including the preparation of consolidated financial statements and SEC filings. This role provides technical accounting guidance, maintains global accounting policies, and ensures compliance across all domestic and international entities. The position manages regional controllers and the fixed asset accounting team.
Responsibilities
- Accounting Oversight: Maintain complete and accurate accounting books and records for all corporate entities, both domestic and international.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage the global accounting organization, including regional controllers and the corporate accounting and SEC reporting teams.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare consolidated financial statements and related footnotes in accordance with US GAAP.
- SEC Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate preparation of all SEC filings, including 10-K, 10-Q, and other required disclosures.
- Policy & Standards: Maintain and enforce Global Accounting Policies and Procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across all regions.
- Technical Accounting: Provide guidance on complex accounting issues and evaluate the impact of new accounting pronouncements.
- System Controls: Review SAP system access and address any segregation of duties (SOD) concerns to maintain strong internal controls.
- Strategic Projects: Lead or participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by executive leadership.
Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:
- BS Degree in Accounting
- CPA certification required
- Demonstrated business acumen, strategic thinking and leadership skills as a senior accounting leader typically acquired over 10 or more years of experience in similar roles of increasing responsibility.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Advanced degree in Accounting
- SAP experience preferred
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Deep understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- Ability to clearly communicate complex accounting issues to all levels of management
- Working knowledge of IFRS and SOX compliance
- Strong judgment and ability to operate independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build strong relationships across functions and geographies
- Willingness to travel internationally to support and train global teams
