Bring your expertise to JPMorganChase. Our Capital Risk Management (CRM) is an independent risk team and second line of defense function for capital management activities and the firm's compliance with the requirements of the US Regulatory Capital Rules as well as local requirements in the jurisdictions where Material Legal Entities (MLEs) are incorporated. Subgroups within CRM include Capital Risk Policy (CRP), Capital Risk Coverage and Capital Risk Analytics. CRP supports the firm's adherence to regulatory rule requirements through various activities including transaction review and approval of proposed exposure categorization and calculation of capital requirements, review and approval of regulatory policy guidance documents and key rule interpretations therein, review of estimation methods, review/oversight of data governance and management function, integration into key controls over the firm's Capital Governance Framework and review of implementation guidance and testing of Basel RWA calcs.As a Capital Risk Policy (CRP) Vice President, you will join our team as a structured finance / Basel securitization subject matter expert (SME), where you will play a critical role in enabling sustainable business growth through effective risk identification, mitigation and management. You will provide SME support to the Chief Risk Officer for the Chief Investment Office, Global Treasury and Corporate to monitor and manage risks to the firm's regulatory capital. Your expertise in structured finance transactions and regulatory capital requirements, combined with strong communication and collaboration skills, will be essential to support the Risk Management and Compliance (RM&C) strategic objectives while maintaining robust risk management standards within the firm's Capital Governance Framework.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead CRP's independent 2nd line oversight and review of the firm's key regulatory capital rule interpretations and implementation as it relates to structured finance and credit risk transfer transactions
- Participate in key capital governance working groups and committees, deep-dive reviews of the firm's structured financing businesses and engagement with our regulators through periodic meetings and exams.
- Serve as the SME to provide effective challenge of the firm's capital policy function on how the regulatory capital rules apply to complex structured finance products and transactions in context of the current (Basel III) and prospective securitization capital rule included in the Basel III Endgame.
- Collaborate across multiple business functions including first line business product specialists, structurers and product control teams, Capital and Liquidity Policy (C&LP), LOB Finance, LOB Risk Management, External Reporting, Model Development and Review, Technology and Operations and Audit teams.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
- A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the financial services industry, particularly in risk management or asset-based lending
- Strong ability to analyze complex structured finance products and transactions to deliver high quality, commercially sound and rules-based regulatory capital analysis to facilitate your independent conclusion on the applicable rule and appropriate capital treatment
- Strong ability to translate bank regulatory capital rules into simple, clear requirements that can be easily understood and applied in performing independent regulatory analysis and reviews
- Experience reviewing compliance with regulations and effectively engage with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
- Practical experience should include one or more of the following aspects: regulatory capital policy, risk management, finance, accounting policy, or audit
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
- Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM)
- Experience working in a 2nd line review function in a leading bank or in a Big Four accounting firm
- Background in credit risk or structuring
- Experience interacting with bank regulatory agencies
