Job Description
New River Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under a state-wide system of 23 community colleges. The college is located on a one-hundred plus acre site at the intersection of U.S. Routes 11 and 100 in Dublin, Virginia with an instructional site in Christiansburg. The campus provides modern, well-equipped facilities for the career technical education programs as well as for the college transfer programs. Approximately 4,000 students comprise the student body.

Duties:
- Manage the entire hiring process from job posting to offer acceptance.
- Administer and maintain employee benefits programs, including group health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, flexible spending accounts, and retirement benefits.
- Process enrollments, changes, termination and qualified life events.
- Serve as the primary contact for employee questions about benefits.
- Deliver benefit orientation for new hires.
- Coordinate open enrollment.
- Provide retirement counseling to prospective retirees and benefits assistance to current retirees.
- Maintain employee benefits systems and ensure accurate communication of benefit changes to payroll for proper deductions.
- Assist the HR Manager with benefits-related reporting, reconciliations, and compliance documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Evidence of well-developed skills in:
- Organization and management of routine daily responsibilities
- Oral and written communication
- Problem solving with ability to take independent action within procedural guidelines
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in use of technology such as Microsoft Excel.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
- Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to follow up effectively.
Additional Considerations
Additional factors that may be considered include:
- Experience with HRIS and ATS platforms, including PeopleSoft and PeopleAdmin, or comparable systems
- Knowledge of employee benefits and experience with benefits administration platforms.
- Familiarity with system integrations across hiring, payroll, and benefits processes.
