DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Strength and Conditioning department is responsible for player physical development, innovation, and collaboration between all other departments and stakeholders to optimize on-field performance.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Assistant Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coordinator is primarily responsible for oversight and development of the DR Academy Strength and Conditioning operation, as well as assisting with rehabilitation in Fort Myers, Florida. The position will support the Minor League S&C Coordinator in special projects, administrative tasks, and the delivery of the S&C departmental vision. The position will work collaboratively with the Fundamentals, Medical, Baseball Sciences, Nutrition, and Mental Performance departments to ensure a comprehensive approach to evidence-based and data-driven player development.
As the Red Sox continue to build a team capable of being the standard in player and staff development, we are looking for candidates who are organized with uncompromising attention to detail and who are inquisitive, intellectually curious, data-driven, and open minded. Due to the nature of the role, the candidate must also possess strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork/leadership skills.
This position is based out of Fort Myers, FL year-round and will frequently travel to the Red Sox Dominican Republic academy. Participation in pre-Spring Training programs, Spring Training, and off-season programs in the Dominican Republic and Fort Myers, Florida is required.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversight and professional development of the DR Academy S&C staff.
- Facilitate the alignment between domestic and Dominican Republic operations.
- Oversee a strategic transition process for players entering the US from the Dominican Republic.
- Assist with rehabilitation in Fort Myers, Florida daily.
- Support affiliate staff coverage as assigned.
- Facilitate and supervise the Red Sox S&C programming for players at the DR Academy.
- Facilitate the integration of the Strength and Conditioning department with all other departments within Player Development.
- Work closely with and support the Nutrition department to ensure the quality and execution of nutrition standards and expectations.
- Collaborate with Baseball Sciences to ensure the integration of diagnostic and monitoring technology in training and game play.
- Proactively and effectively communicate player goals and progress to individual athletes and stakeholders.
- Participate in ongoing internal research and novel training initiatives.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with the medical staff and support the return to play process.
- Actively participate in continuing education and professional growth opportunities.
- Maintain gym and sports science equipment to a professional standard at the Florida complex and the Red Sox Dominican Republic academy.
- Assist all coaches and player development staff with load management, maximizing schedule efficiency, and optimizing performance outcomes.
- Attend and participate in scheduled staff meetings.
- Objectively audit the global performance of the Strength and Conditioning department.
- Must be flexible to work irregular hours, nights, and weekends with frequent travel.
- Work pre-season camps, Spring Training, and off-season camps in Fort Myers, FL .
- Manage remote training/check-ins with minor league players in the off-season.
- Support the Minor League S&C Coordinator by executing all other job functions as assigned.
COMPETENCIES:
- Demonstrated history of effective leadership.
- High level of technical acumen regarding all aspects of Strength and Conditioning.
- Ability to cultivate trust and player buy-in.
- Strong understanding of contemporary diagnostic testing and athlete monitoring technologies and procedures.
- Ability to comprehend data and provide feedback to players and stakeholders.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field required, Master’s degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred.
- Minimum five years of experience in a strength and conditioning-related role required.
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) from the NSCA required.
- CPR/AED certification required.
- Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Experience coaching in a NCAA or professional team environment required.
- Experience leading moderate to large staffs preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, jump, run, walk, reach, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate with others.
- The vision requirement includes the ability to review written and electronic materials in both digital and physical format.
- The employee must be able to transfer and move items for departmental needs.
- The employee must be able to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed considering the strong focus on external communications and
- relationships.
