Purpose:
The Accounting Manager will support the financial accounting operations of the company, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, government contracting requirements, and internal controls. This role will be responsible for preparing financial statements, maintaining general ledger accuracy, and supporting audits while partnering with leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making in the SATCOM sector.
Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day accounting operations, including posting and generating journal entries, cash receipts, revenue journals, and cost of goods journals and inventory journals.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Perform and maintain account reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations (e.g., FAR, DFARS), contract requirments, industry requirements, GAAP and SOX controls and corporate policy and procedures.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain data integrity.
- Support external audits, tax filings, financial reviews and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with finance, contracts, and program management teams to support pricing, proposals, and project accounting.
- Provide leadership/management with financial analysis, variance reports, and recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency
Requirements:
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience leading a cost center
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related fields; Master's degree preferred
Skills:
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, SAP, Oracle).
- Strong Excel and financial modeling capabilities.
- Knowledge of revenue recognition and project accounting within aerospace/defense/SATCOM environments.
- Familiarity with tax regulations, compliance standards, and audit practices
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-compliance industry.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. MBA strongly preferred
- Active CPA strongly preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 57 years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
