Description
DescriptionThis position offers an opportunity to work mostly with the online student body. Flexibility and adaptability are key, especially in keeping up with evolving technologies and supporting students as they navigate these changes. Embracing and incorporating emerging technologies is an important aspect of the role. In addition, it's essential to understand the unique needs of our nontraditional student population, who are an integral part of the online program's growth. The ability to connect with students in their decision-making process, from selecting a university to enrolling in courses, is critical. Experience in advisement, recruitment, and working with technology is required and experience in counseling is highly valued and will support success in this role.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
Examples of Duties
- Respond promptly to all prospective student inquiries (including new transfers and returning SIU students) with degree completion plans, including the estimation of transfer credits and remaining courses required for degree completion. This may involve collaboration with advisors and Articulation and Evaluation. -
- Work closely with online academic advisors and program managers to ensure a seamless delivery of student services for online students.
- Assist on-campus students in enrolling in online courses, typically during summer semesters, when online options are the best fit.
- Collaborate with Advisement to manage student enrollments and registrations, providing guidance on courses needed to meet program requirements and goals. This includes working with course/program articulations, transfer credits, and military credits.
- Project enrollments for online programs and courses by tracking prospective and continuing students, as well as students who have stopped out. Provide enrollment projections for the upcoming semester and beyond to help determine course and faculty needs.
- Create and manage a database to track enrollment projections.
- Monitor and report online course enrollments to the Associate Dean to assist in course scheduling and cancellations.
- Assist the Business Manager in preparing faculty contracts and processing for online programs.
- Oversee the annual update of online program articulations with community colleges for undergraduate programs, and communicate with community college partners as needed.
- Support online program managers with student communications.
- Onboard students to the mandatory remote camera system, ensuring both online and on-campus students enrolled in online courses are well-informed and provided with all essential resources for a smooth and efficient remote proctoring experience.
- Adapt responsibilities as needed in response to student needs and market demand in online programs.
- Utilize systems such as Banner, Degree Works, Extender, ARGOS, Excel, Slate, and Salukinet extensively, and usage of PowerBI for reporting from ODS.
- Online undergraduate recruitment and marketing coordination.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree
- Minimum of three years of student academic advising experience.
- At least five years of professional experience in higher education, with a focus on student recruitment, retention, job placement, advisement, or enrollment management.
- Proven ability to effectively utilize technology and communication tools.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with systems such as Slate, Degree Works, Banner, ARGOS, SQL, or SAS is highly preferred.
